Doghouse Sportfishing is one of the top boats for outer banks fishing charters on the Outer Banks and was featured on National Geographic’s Wicked Tuna Outer Banks for 5 seasons. The Doghouse is a 61 foot, custom Carolina boat, certified to carry 24 passengers and with a 17 foot cockpit and a 17 foot salon, we have ample room for everyone. We run two different types of trips on the Doghouse, half day inshore trips and full day offshore trips.

The inshore half day trips are 4 and 1/2 hours long, and are run either in the channel, or very close to the beach, in the ocean. This has become a very popular trip. The species caught on these trips are Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, and various small bottom fish. Cobia and Red Drum are caught during the spring and fall. These trips work very well for families, and many of our wedding groups. We get on the fish quickly, and we are always within sight of land. The most popular time slot for this trip is our 4:30 p.m. until dark trip. This is a very relaxing time to be fishing due to the decreasing amount of boat traffic, and the fish generally bite very well just ahead of dark. On this particular trip our mate cleans your fish for you on the way in.

In high demand times, we run a 6:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. half day, and also a 11:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. inshore trip. Call ahead to check on availability of these two time slots. The evening is always offered, due to it’s popularity.

The full day offshore trips are offered year round. These trips are the ones we fish for marlin, tuna, dolphin (mahi-mahi), and wahoo. Check out our pictures to get an idea what you can expect to catch during the time of year you will be fishing with us. This trip is ten to twelve hours long. From June 1st to August 31st, the time for these trips is 4:00 a.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m. The rest of the year we run from 5:00 a.m. until around 4:00 p.m. These times do fluctuate sometimes for different reason, so shoot us an e-mail, or give us a call to double check your departure time.

We only book private charters, unless the passengers request us to put some others with them. Please contact us for a quote on your custom trip.

A deposit is required to hold your date and must be paid within 2 weeks of booking your charter. If you book within 2 weeks of fishing, you must have a credit card to hold the deposit. Credit cards are gladly accepted but there is a surcharge which is a bank charge that is passed on to you. Deposits are accepted by cash, check, or travelers check.
